If you're the outdoor type, then this trip is just for you.  Starting on the Italy/Austria border, we wind our way across Austria following the Drau River.  Along the way we explore the local villages, experience a festival or two, enjoy the beautiful scenery, and end each day at a country inn where you can relax in the spa before the evening meal.

This trip is designed for the casual cyclist and does not require a high fitness level.  The bike path follows the river mostly downhill, with many stops along the way.  Bicycles are furnished.  Your gear is transported each day by our trusty sag wagon.  Bikers are also welcome to ride the sag wagon if they need a break from biking.  (*Denotes biking time)

Day 1

Arrive in Venice.  Transportation to hotel and Welcome Dinner!

Day 2

Transportation to Sillian, Austria.  Lunch and leisurely bike ride (*2 hrs) to Lienz with stops along the way.  Overnight in Lienz.

Day 3

Chairlift to mountain setting for a stroll and lunch.  Free time to explore Lienz.  Planned afternoon activities.  Overnight in Lienz.

Day 4

Bike ride (*3 hrs) to Greifenburg with stops along the way in Nikolsdorf and my favorite lunch stop in Oberdrauburg.  Overnight in Greifenburg.

Day 5

Bike ride (*2 hr) to Spittal with stops in Steinfeld and Lendorf.  Evening time to stroll through the streets of Spittal.  Overnight in Spittal.

Day 6

Bike ride (*4 hrs) to Villach with stop in Paternion-Feistritz.  Free time in Villach.  Grand Finale at Austrian Gasthaus.  Overnight in Villach.

Day 7

Departure and transportation to Venice.

Each day you will be treated to a fabulous selection of hearty Austrian meals, local wines, and many opportunities to experience the Austrian Konditorei with wonderful pastries and coffees.  Our route takes us by many beer gardens and and outdoor cafes where we can take a break, sample the refreshments, and enjoy the local culture.
